Rob Buchanan
Rob is passionate about place-based education and has seen the impact of learning rooted in local landscapes and community engagement.
He holds a Bachelor’s in Forestry and Education from UBC, a Graduate Diploma with a focus on Scientific Literacy, and a Master’s in Place- and Nature-Based Education from SFU. His work blends science, connection, storytelling, humor, and a deep respect for his community and the land. Rob is an educator with Awaken Nature Education in SD22.
Outside the "classroom", Rob’s a dad, husband, friend, Kootenay kid (New Denver!), aspiring naturalist, and science enthusiast.

Dr. Cassidy Rankine
Cassidy is an Earth Observation (EO) scientist, biologist, and remote sensing solutions expert with a passion for using imagery and geospatial data to help solve real-world challenges. He thrives on big picture sustainable development problems and loves learning and sharing interesting facts about this big blue marble we call Planet Earth. He has taught science education to groups of all ages and loves getting outdoors to explore new places any chance he gets.

Allison Dietrich
Allison is a mom, environmental educator, gardener, and teacher. She passionately believes in Land-based learning, and delights in designing experiences that spark relationships between children and nature. Allison is energized by all things that deepen her connection to place. Of late these include trail-running, growing food for her family, paddling, and swimming in the lakes. Allison is excited to support and connect outdoor educators through an Okanagan Valley environmental education network.

Kim Fulton
Kim Fulton (aka Dr. Fish and/or The Lorax,) is passionate about helping children, teachers, and the larger community develop a love and understanding of the natural world. Through this love and understanding I hope to help create well informed, creative problem solvers who will take action for the future of life on the Planet Earth.
Kayla Pasciullo
Kayla, a front-end developer who loves responsive design and the environment. She is currently finishing a degree in front-end web development at Treehouse and is excited to put all her skills to use! She is an aggressive problem solver who loves a challenge and is always looking to learn or try something new!

Caitlin McMahon
Meet Caitlin McMahon, the dynamic and compassionate teacher at Awaken Nature Education. Caitlin's love for the outdoors started at a young age. Growing up in the Okanagan Valley, she spent her time hiking, canoeing, camping, skiing, snowshoeing and exploring the local wilderness. Her connection to the natural world has only grown deeper over the years.
Caitlin is a passionate educator who brings a unique blend of nature-based education and experiential learning to her classes. Caitlin encourages her students to explore the natural world through land connection through experiences such as foraging, ethnobotany, and forest walks.
